LOST 6.17 &6.18- "THE END"

And a word of warning, this discussion is a little bit random and scattered...Sorry about that.

Wow.... What a payoff.
   I don't know about anybody else, but I was certainly not disappointed. As much as it was fun to speculate about the questions being answered, I knew they would never answer "all" of them. I am satisfied with how they needed it, though. it came back to the characters, and that's what the show had always been about(for me, anyway).
   I thought the opening montage contrasting the "sideways" world and the Island world was pretty well done.
Some really great moments in this one.
  It was great to see Rose & Bernard(and Vincent) again. I loved how Rose very delicately told Desmond that he had to leave because they "didn't get involved", but when Flocke threatened to kill them if Desmond didn't go with him, Rose said"You don't have to go anywhere with him." Rose has always been one of my favorite characters on this show, and that was such a perfect moment for her.
   I liked Jack saying that he took the job as Island protector because the Island was "the only thing in my life that I didn't ruin."
  I also liked Jack defending Locke in the cave "You're not John Locke. You disrespect him by wearing his face, but you're nothing like him."
  LOVED the mountain fight!!
  "I want you to know. jack. You died for nothing."
  And then Kate, :"I saved you a bullet." Flocke is DEAD.
  Jack:"I'm fine. Just find me some thread and I can count to five."

  Ben and Hurley decided to stay with Jack.Jack tells Hurley that he will have to take the job now, that Jack was just meant to stop Flocke.He passes the "torch" to Hurley. Desmond is still alive in the cave, jack saves him, and puts teh cork back in the Island. the water and the light return.
  Lapidus gets Miles, Richard, Claire, Kate and Sawyer off the Island.

  Ben tells Hurley that he should run the Island however he wants to, perhaps beginning with letting Desmond leave.Hurley asks for Ben's help in guarding the Island, Ben accepts, and says he'd be honored.

   In the "sideways" world, a lot was going on. I gotta say, this was really moving for me.I found myself tearing up quite a few times. Desmond's plan starts to come together.
  Is starts when Sun and Jin remember when they are looking at the ultrasound. Sniff,sob.
then Boone & Hurley reunite Sayid and Shannon. Sniff sob.
Aaron's delivery triggered Claire, Charlie and Kate. Sniff, sob, sniff.
Locke is triggered by moving his toes. Sniff,sob. He tells Jack, I hope somebody does for you what you just did for me."
  LOVED Jin and Sun's interaction with Sawyer.
  Sawyer..Excuse me, JAMES and Juliet. Sniff, sob, wail. This one was sooooo good.
  "Kiss me, James."
  "You got it, Blondie."
  Jack and Kate at the concert. Doesn't quite trigger Jack, but I thought Kate's,"I missed you soo much." line was fantastic.
   Ben: I'm very sorry for what I did to you, John. I was selfish, jealous. I wanted everything you had."
  John: If it helps, I forgive you."
  I thought it was interesting that Ben didn't go in with the rest of them. I presume he wanted to work through some things with Alex and Rousseau. I liked his moment with Hurley.
  Kate brings jack to the church, and Jack goes to see his father's body. He touches the coffin, and that is his final trigger, and he has a conversation with his Father where he realizes that he is dead. that they are all dead, but that they have all died at different times, and the "sideways" world was something that they created together so that they could find each other after they died,because they were all important to each other. "Nobody does it alone. You needed all of them, and they needed you."
  It was time for them to move on. Jack goes in to see them all. Christian opens the door. They all see a light.
  back on the Island, we see jack wander back to where it all began, where he landed after the crash. He lies down, he sees the plane take off, so he knows his friends are safe. Vincent lies down with him, and we see his eye close....LOST.

  Wow.It moved me. It's corny, but it's the truth. I don't know that I really knew how much I cared about these characters until this episode, but i found myself really moved by them rediscovering each other, and remembering all they had been through. I like the idea of that.I don't know if it's just because I have lost a couple of people close to me in the last few years, but that concept hit me very hard. I thought it was a great explanation for the sideways reality.

  I know I have more to say, but i want to get this posted, because I want to hear what you guys have to say.

LOST 6.16:What They Died For"

Wow. I guess I should have seen Ben's regression coming,and I kinda did, as soon as he met up Widmore, but it still was a bit shocking.

I don't know that I'm in a mood to just recount the episode, so I think I'll try and free from it a little bit today.

First- I think at some point in the season Finale, someone(presumably Ben, if the protection from Smokey that Jacob enjoyed transfers to Jack) will hold a knife to Jack's throat...That's why I think he keeps seeing a cut on his neck in the Alternate Reality.

Why does A/R Locke need to let go? What does he need to let go of? I presume he is the one holding the A/R together...But why?

Loved the scene with Alex and Ben and Danielle in the A/R. Emerson played that so well, you could just see the confusion of the Island memories and his current reality swirling in his head.And it seemed like he was sad, but didn't really know why.

Very interesting to see Desmond manipulating all these pieces in the A/R. Everything is going to coincide at the "Concert". Where do you think Hurley and Sayid are going? To see Juliet?

It was very interesting to see the rage build in Ben as first Widmore showed up, and THEN said that Jacob INVITED him to the Island.It was like haymaker after haymaker being landed on him, all after the initial blow of passing Alex' grave.You could just tell he was gonna snap, and when he did...Oh Man. "He doesn't get to save his daughter." Yikes!!

Do you think Widmore whispered the truth to Smokey? all that Smokey said was what we heard Widmore say, he didn't add anything from what Widmore whispered.

Do you think Ben will help Smokey destroy the Island? I don't see him aiding in that endeavor.

Didn't you know that Richard was dead as soon as he walked outside? i was thinking, "Richard! He doesn't need you to join him anymore!! A lot has happened on your walk to the Dharma barracks!" But he ddin't hear me, and he got "Smoked".

So, now Ben is with Smokey, and they are going to use Desmond to destroy the Island-I still don't think Ben will help Smokey do that, but we'll see.

Now, to our Final Four: It was nice to see Jack trying to ease Sawyer's burden about the bomb.
And it was interesting to see Kate and Jack agree that they need to kill Locke...As if they were still holding out hope there may have been some other way.

Jacob finally has a sit down with the candidates. We find out quite a bit in this conversation. Kate was crossed off of the list because she became a mother, but the job was still hers if she wants it.

He tells them taht he brought them to the Island because he needed one of them to take over protecting the heart of the Island from Smokey, whom he admits he created, a "mistake".
"I didn't pluck any of you out of a happy existence. You were like me.Alone."

"You want us to kill him"
"I hope so, because he most certainly wants to kill you."(or will try to kill you, i didn't write that quote down.)
Jacob wanted them to have the one thing he never had: A choice. And if they choose not to choose, "This will all end very badly."

jack stepped up, "This is what I'm here for."
"Is that a question, Jack?"
"No."
"Good."

Jacob takes Jack to the stream,and he has the same ceremony that he had with his Mother. Jack asks how long he will have to do the job, and Jacob tells him "as long as you can."
Jack is now like Jacob.
Sawyer gets in one last dig.

Coupla questions(or maybe just one)- Why do you think Miles is still alive? Comic relief? or do you think one of the dead bodies on the Island is going to have an important piece of info for him? I'm leaning towards the latter...Jack's Dad maybe ? Or maybe Smokey and Jacob's fake mom?

Okay, that's what I got...What did I miss ? What do y'all think?

LOST 6.15: Across The Sea

Blah blah blah Spoiler Alert....

Talk about a flashback, huh?

So, what answers did we get?

We learned the identity of Adam and Eve.
   We learned of the origin of Smokey.
We sorta learned why the Island is special.

We learned that the MIB and Jacob ARE brothers.

We learned about MIB's crazy mother.

What questions were raised?
   How did their Mother end up on the Island?
   How long had she been there?
   Who exactly tasked her with taking care of "the light" ?
How many other people had she killed? I noticed a bunch of graves behind the pregnant Claudia(I guess that was her "killing spot"?).
How did she make it so that they could not kill each other?
Were Jacob and _________ special before they arrived, or did she make them special?
Why can't Jacob see the dead?
Do Jacob and ____________ know all the "rules" simply because of their community with the Island? Jacob because he drank the wine and accepted the responsibility and ______________ because he became Smokey?
   What do you think we are supposed to think about the ghost of Claudia? was she just telling her son the truth, or was it some sort of manipulation? But by whom? Does the Island itself tempt and test people?

   I loved "Every question you ask will lead to another question."
    And "One day you can make up your own game, and everyone will have to play by your rules."

A coupla questions to people smarter than I? Is this like the Esau Jacob story? Or Cain and Abel? The chosen one not wanting to be "chosen", and the other brother stepping in?

Also, anyone know about when this was supposed to be, history wise? Anyone recognize Claudia and her people's clothing ?

Wow, my brain is still reeling from this episode.

LOST 6.14- The Candidate

"Because it's going to be you, Jack."

  Holy flurking snit! I guess shit is really happening now, isn't it? Wow, what a tremendous episode.

SAY-FUCKING-ID!!!!!!!!!!!!!
   I KNEW that Sayid would redeem himself. And he did it such grand fashion. It was such a Sayid moment, "Listen to me very carefully..." But I'm getting ahead of myself.

We open in the A/R this episode, so let's get that out of the way. Jack tells John that he thinks John is (gasp!) a "a candidate"...For what ? For magical spinal surgery...John refuses. Jack ain't having it. "I could fix you."

  Jack goes to see Locke's dentist(BERNARD!!) Jack is clearly thrown by the fact that Bernard was also on Oceanic 815(I loved that Bernard said Jack was hitting on Rose while Bernard was in the bathroom).Jack went to see Bernard to try and find out what happened to put Locke in the wheelchair. Bernard remembered that there was someone else in the crash with Locke...Anthony Cooper.(gasp!) Jack seemed a little surprised that Bernard remembered that fact, and Cooper's name. Bernard then tells Jack that he hopes " you find what you're looking for."

  Is it just me, or did Bernard seem to know more about what was going on? Are we to think he has already had flashes of the crash?

  Jack goes to see Anthony Cooper, and runs into Locke's fiancée Helen, who asks him to just leave it alone and go. she akss why it can't be enough that he saved Locke's life, and Jack says "Because it's not." Helen then brings him in to meet Anthony Cooper, and he is in a comatose state.

  Jack goes back to see Locke, and while Locke is sleeping, he says "Push the button" and "I wish you believed me."
  Claire comes to see jack about the music box that their father left her...It plays "Catch A Falling Star" which triggered(for me, anyway) a flashback to the great scene of Crazy Claire, Zombie Sayid and Kate walking through the devastation at the temple...Creepy.
  Jack finds out the Claire was ALSO on Oceanic 815...He seems to be coming slightly unglued by all of these "coincidences". he invites Claire to stay at his house, because they are not strangers, they are family.

  Jack then sees Locke as he is leaving the hospital(after Jin passes by Locke, and Locke seems to recognize him, if only for a second) and Locke finally tells jack that he crashed a plane with him and his dad in it, and it was his fault that his Dad was comatose. Jack tries to convince Locke that he has to "let go". He says that "what happened, happened".
  As Locke is leaving, Jack says that He could "fix" Locke, and "I wish you believed me."

   ISLAND

  Jack wakes up in a raft on the beach with Sayid. And Sayid seems to make a little joke("At least you didn't have to paddle.").

  Widmore puts Sawyer, Kate, Hugo, Lapidus and the Kwons into the Hydra cages. He says that he is doing this for their own good. When Sawyer grabs the rifle from one of the henchman("Doughboy"-ha!), Widmore puts a gun to Kate's head and says he has a list with 4 names on it, Ford, Reyes and the Kwons, so he doesn't care what happens to Kate. Sawyer relents and reveals to Kate that her name was crossed out in the cave.

  Locke tells Jack that they have to save "your people" from Widmore. Jack says that they are not "his People", and that he is not leaving the Island. Flocke tells Jack that he could kill everyone of them right now, but he doesn't because he wants them to get off the island. He is a lying liar who lies!!!!

   The power goes down at the Hydra camp where Widmore is. A brief aside for a small nitpick..Why didn't they have someone guarding the generator? And if they did and Sayid killed them, why didn't we see that? Not a HUGE deal, but still.

  Anywjo, the power goes off at the Hydra camp, and we start to hear the familiar click that means Smokey is coming...Hurley: "And we're dead."

  But Jack shows up and lets them out, saying "I'm with Him", and gesturing towards Smokey.They run and meet up with Sayid.

  Locke goes to the plane and kills the people guarding it, and takes something off of the plane- C4. Widmore was going to blow up the plane.Flocke theorizes that Widmore wanted to get "everyone into a confined space" and kill them all by blowing them up. he thinks the sub is now the safer way to leave.

  I was thinking that the c-4 was Widmore's "last defense". If Flocke managed to get on the plane, it would blow up.

  They all head to the sub, Sawyer pulls Jack aside and asks him to keep Flocke off the sub. Jack says he'll do what he can. They get to the sub, Sawyer leads the first group, and they reach it easily( a little TOO easily for my taste).The rest go in a second group, and Jack and Locke bring up the rear. Locke hands Jack a back pack(and I swear, I said to My Special Lady-"Did Flocke just give him the bomb?")

   As Flocke and Jack are walking to the sub, Flocke asks Jack why he feels he needs to stay on the Island, and Jack says, "John Locke told me I needed to stay" and then he pushes Flocke into the water. Kate gets shot by Widmore's snipers, and then Flocke and Claire get left on the dock. Flocke tells Claire that she doesn't want to be on that sub. the sub begins diving.

Jack finds the bomb in his pack("We did exactly what he wanted us to."), and tries to convince everyone that they need to leave it alone, that they will not die(just like Jack and Richard in the Black Rock with the dynamite), because Flocke can't kill them, but he wants them to kill each other. sawyer doesn't listen, and pulls the wires, which speeds up the bomb, and makes it so that Sawyer is actually the one killing them all.

  Sayid then tells Jack that Desmond is in a well, and that Flocke wants him dead, which means that they will need him. Jack says"Why are you telling me this?" And Sayid answers: "Because it's going to be you, Jack." and grabs the bomb and runs away.

  The bomb detonates, Lapidus gets hit by the door and some water, but I'm guessing we might see him again, simply because we didn't actually see him die.

   Hurley gets Kate out. Sun is trapped. Jin, Jack and sawyer try to save her, Sawyer gets knocked out, and then Jack gets Sawyer out. Jin continues to try and free Sun, but he cannot. She implores him to go, but he says he won't leave her again. And they both go down with the sub.

   Jack, Hurley, Kate and Sawyer all end up on the beach. Kate hugs Jack and keeps repeating that she couldn't find him. Hurley finds out about Jin and Sun, and breaks down, as does Jack. Sawyer is still pretty unconscious.
   Flocke tells Claire that the sub sunk. Claire:"So, they're all dead?"
  Flocke(disgustedly)"Not all of them." he walsk off.
  Claire:"Where are you going?"
  Flocke:"To finish what I started." YIKES!!!!!!

  Okay, so now we know without a doubt that Flocke/MIB is EVIL. the only question is if Widmore and Flocke could still be working together. I kinda doubt it, but I cannot rule it out either. And where are Miles, Alpert and Ben?

I will admit that I teared up a bit when Sayid went all Anakin/Darth Vader on the bomb AND when Jin and Sun died.

  LOST is really bringing it so far this season. Pretty damn excited(and sad) for the last four and a half hours( apparently, an extra half hour has been added to the series Finale).

  What did I miss ? What do you guys think ?

LOST 6.13- The Last Recruit

Spoiler Alert...The Bacon has gone bad! Again, the bacon has gone bad!

Well,well, well...Things seem to be unraveling for our Flocke now, don't they?

  All over the place, thing seem top be moving rather fast.

Island first...Flocke wants to speak to Jack alone. This points to one of my main reasons for thinking that Flocke is a bad guy...He always wants to talk to people "alone". It seems that he doesn't want anyone to have all the information.That seems like a bad thing to me.
   Anyway, Jack and Flocke have a talk(BTW, I very much liked Jack asking Hurley if it was okay to talk to Locke alone);
  Jack: Why John Locke ?
  Flocke- "Because he was stupid enough to believe he was brought here for a reason.Because he pursued that belief until it got him killed. And because you were nice enough to bring his body back in a nice wooden box"

  OUCH. Poor Locke.Okay, John Locke has to be redeemed at some point, doesn't he? Can they really just be this cruel to him?

  Then we find out that the MIB was appearing as Christian in order to help Jack find water and manipulate Claire.
  Tells Jack that they all have to leave together. I still would like someone to ask him a follow-up question on that.WHY do they ALL have to leave? Nobody has asked that, have they? I understand that for getting the Oceanic 6 back to the Island they had to try and recreate the original flight(though I question the logic of that a bit, and I think we need to find out about Eloise Hawking allegiances before we know that that was, in fact, true), but why do they all need to leave together?

Flocke also says that Locke was not a believer, he was a sucker. Ouch again.

Claire tells Jack that he decided he was with Flocke as soon as he let Flocke talk to him. I don't buy that, but perhaps is that why Widmore turned on the people on the beach at the end? Are they all "infected" by Flocke? But then wouldn't Widmore be as well?

Sawyer tells Hurley that Sayid has gone "to the Dark Side" and Hurley makes an Anakin Skywalker reference about bringing people back from the dark side....Hmmmm...Does this mean something?

  Zoe and the Sub Bunch show up and blow up some trees to show how tough they are(GHurley's line of "People trying to kill us again" when asked what was up was priceless), and demand that Flocke return what he took from them, or they will get more of the same, but worse. Locke destroys the walkie-talkie Zoe gives him, indicating he has no intention of returning Desmond.
  he then makes himself out to be the victim, saying that they are "Claiming we stole something from them."
He's a lying liar who lies!! he tells everyone that they are going to Hydra Island. He sends Sawyer to go get the boat, and Sayid to go kill Desmond.
  Sawyer takes Kate with him, and tells Jack to bring Hurley, Sun and Lapidus to meet them. Jack asks about Sayid and Claire, Sawyer responds" Sayid's a zombie and Claire's NUTS." AWESOME line.
   Sayid goes to kill Desmond. Desmond asks Sayid what Flocke offered him.Desmond then asks what Sayid will tell Nadia when they are reunited.
  Flocke goes back to check on Sayid, Jack takes the opportunity to take his folks and go. Claire sees them and follows. Kate allows Claire onto the boat. Claire says when Flocke finds out.. "He's gonna be mad."
  Flocke finds Sayid, and Sayid says he killed Desmond...What do you think ? I don't think he did it. Fro one, we didn't see it happen, and the first rule of tee vee is, if you didn't SEE it happen, you don't KNOW that it actually happened. Plus, did Sayid seem a little different when talking to Flocke? I thought he seemed a bit different...Perhaps a little more lively?
  On the boat, Jack doubts what they are doing and Sawyer tells him to get off the boat if he's not with them.Jack jumps into the water.
  jack and Locke are reunited on the beach.
  When the Boaties get to shore, they are greeted by Zoe and the Sub Bunch. JIN AND SUN GET REUNITED!!!!!!!!!!! And Sun gets her voice back.
  THEN, Zoe gets th order from Widmore to take them all into custody. And they order the air strike on Flocke----AND JACK!!! Flocke saves Jack and says.."It's alright. You're with me now." DUN-DUN!!!!

  A/R-
  Locke wakes up in the ambulance and says he was supposed to marry Helen Norwood,and that his first name is John. Sun is riding along on the gurney next to him, and she says-"No! No! It's him!!" Which I'm guessing is a bleed over from island world.
  Sawyer thinks that he and Kate seem fated, Kate correctly guesses that Sawyer didn't arrest her at the airport because he didn't want to explain why he was at the airport. Kate once again proclaims her innocence, which she did not do in the regular reality, if I'm not mistaken. I don't think she ever said she was innocent...So could she actually be innocent in the A/R?
  Sawyer and Miles go and arrest Sayid for the murders at the restaurant.
  Desmond just "happens" to run into Claire as she is going to the adoption agency, and convinces her to have legal representation.He brings her to a lawyer on the (gasp) 15th floor!! That lawyer turns out to be(gasp) Ilana!! Who has been looking for Claire(gasp)!! She has been looking for Claire because she is going to be reading Christian's will.. Jack and Claire meet and find out that they are brother and sister.
  Jack gets called to the hospital to operate on....JOHN LOCKE!!!
  And Jin and Sun and the baby are fine!!!

  Alright...What did I miss? What do you guys think? Did Sayid kill Desmond?

LOST 6.12 Everybody Loves Hugo

Wow. Another great episode...I must admit, I'm a sap for Hugo and Libby as a couple, too.You can definitely count me among the "everybody' that loves Hugo.
  And I want to take a moment to give a shout out to Jorge Garcia...He is sooo good at capturing the humor and the heartbreak of Hugo. It's nice to see him emerging as the leader of this group,too.

  Okay, enough of that. we got one of the BIG ANSWERS last night...We now officially know what the Whispers are...They are the spirits of those who cannot "cross over".The only question I have there is this: Is it the Island that is keeping them there, or is it something else? I assume it's the Island, but there seems to be some room for theological debate there.Not that I care to have a theological debate about it...I'm just saying, is all.

   Let's do the Island first....
The ghost of Michael appears and tells Hugo that he needs to keep a lot of people from dying.He tries to talk Richard and Ilana out of blowing up the plane.His logic, after Ilana says that if they destroy the plane, Flocke will not be able to leave the Island, that "Neither will we,and then we'll be stuck here with it, and it'll be angry at us.", was fantastic. That didn't work. Then Ilana blew up. Yikes!I gotta be honest, I figured that she would die, I just figured it would be a few episodes from now. Ilana blowing up did not convince Richard. Jack's line that "maybe Ilana blew up to tell us to stop messing with the dynamite" was classic.
  Hugo then acquiesces to Richard and they all go to the Black Rock, which Hugo blows up because he is protecting everyone.
  He then claims that Jacob told them that they need to go talk to Locke.Richard doesn't believe him, and Richard, Ben and Miles go to the Dharmaville to get grenades. Jack, Sun,and Lapidus follow Hugo to go see Flocke.
  I also really liked Jack's admission about not ever being able to fix it.I thought that was well played. I ahve always liked jack, but if any of you folks are among the Jack haters, did this make him any mor palatable to you?

  Flocke, in the meantime, walks Desmond out to a well, and after waxing philosophic about Widmore's intentions, pushes Desmond into the well. A move, by the way, that Jen saw as soon as she saw the well. I could not tell if Flocke now knows of Widmore's plan because of what Desmond said or not.Of course, we don't necessarily know what Widmore's plan is either, I'm just assuming he wants to capture Flocke.Because, while I do believe that Widmore just wants power, I also think he wants to keep Flocke on the Island.

   And obviously, Flocke pushing Desmond into the well implies that Desmond is some sort of threat to Flocke, for sure. I also wonder if that move(or any other violence towards Desmond) could be where Flocke's followers start to really question his motives.

   I also found the smile on the ghost kid after Flocke gets all flustered and yells for Desmond to "IGNORE HIM!!!" was pretty interesting. The Ghost Kid is getting under his skin. Could he be part of the reason that Flocke is confined to the Island in the first place? Hmmm.....

  Hugo,Jack, Sun and Lapidus go to see Flocke and Flockees. They all agree to a truce, for the moment anyway. Flocke gives Hugo his "word".

  My only fear in this is that these are the exact people that Flocke needed. I fear he may be manipulating all this somehow.
  One other great, small moment was Sun's face when she sees that Jin is not there...Such resignation, it was so sad.
  In the A/R. We see Dr. Pierre Chang/Dr. Marvin Candle give a speech about Hugo's great philanthropy and give him an award, and then we see Hugos' mom cut him back down to size.But she sets up Hugo on a blind date, and who speaks to him at the restaurant? LIBBY!!! I loves me some Libby, and it was nice to see her again.
  She then asks Hugo if he believes that two people can be meant to be together.Then she says"You don't remember me, do you?" I actually gasped, when she said it. then she goes on to tell him about the plane crash and their attraction to each other. The Dr. Brooks comes over and gets her, and loads her back into the van to go back to the mental institution where Hugo and she had both been in the pre-Island world.
  Desmond "happens" to run into Hugo and asks him if he believed Libby, and Hugo said yes.Hugo decides to go and see Libby at the hospital, and then bribes his way into see her.
  She tells him some more about her deja vu esque type feelings, and he asks her out. they go to have a picnic on the beach, Libby once again tells Hugo that he is "doing fine". they kiss, and Hugo begins to remember the Island. we see Desmond drive away, clearly imlpying that he is manipulating a lot of this action.
  Then, we see Desmond sitting outside the school where Ben and Locke work. he tells ben taht he's scouting the school for his son, Charlie. Hmmmmm.... the n he proceeds to run Locke over with his car. Maybe the best LOST ending ever. Just batshit crazy!!

  After last night's episode, my wife and I were talking about how we think that maybe when Widmore tested the electromagnetic pulse thing on Desmond, he teleported Desmond's Island "conciousness" to his Alternate Reality body, and vice versa, and that is why the A/R Desmond is now slowly unweaving the alternate reality by "showing" people the cracks in it, and why the Island Desmond is so willing to go with the flow, he knows what the A/R Desmond is doing(even if we don't fully know). Did Widmore know that this would happen?

  Okay, that's what I got. What did I miss? What did y'all think?

LOST 6.11:"Happily Ever After"

Wow, I think maybe I'm just too dumb for LOST.Last night's episode is the first one in awhile that I feel i need to watch again to figure out exactly what I was supposed to get from it. I kinda feel like the show itself right now, part of me thinks he knows what was revealed last night, and then my alternate reality doesn't quite get it...Or maybe it's vice versa. I don't know...Or do I? No, I definitely don't...Or do I? Nope, still pretty sure I don't.

  Now, don't get me wrong, I loved last night's episode(even though Charlie was in it), I'm just not sure that I fully grasp what Desmond seemed to grasp.

  But let's see....Based on Daniel WIDMORE'S statements to Desmond, when Jughead was set off on the Island, this reality(what we see as the "alternate" or sideways reality) was created.And according to Daniel, it "shouldn't be".
  And now, some people are having these "visions" of what went on in the other reality...Charlie saw a vision of Claire(I'm guesssing), Daniel felt like he already knew Charlotte, and Desmond saw the freakiest thing of all, he saw Charlie's death and Charlie's warning about the folks on the freighter. Presumably, the other Losties have had these same moments, they just are not sure what they are yet.

  Mrs. Widmore(Eloise) seemed all too aware of all of this, and doesn't seem to want this reality disturbed(presumably because Daniel is still alive?), or does she just want to keep Desmond away from Penny?

Now, on the Island, we learn that Desmond is there because he survived a "catastrophic electromagnetic event", and Widmore needs him to do that again(or two more times, if you include the test from last night). I'm guessing that Desmond is going to be called upon to lure and trap the MIB inside that chamber, and that will either be the way to re trap the MIB or destroy him.

  I'm not sure I understand why he was so willing to follow Sayid, though. He seemed almost like he was in a trance, didn't he? I'm note sure I get why that is. Is he just completely surrendering to fate? whatever happens, happens? I'll be curious to see if Locke has a use for him, or if he just wants to keep him away from Widmore, or have him killed.

  I don't know about you, but i was pretty freaked out(in a GREAT way) when Desmond saw NOT PENNYS BOAT on Charlie's hand. I think I might have gasped. VERY cool.

  Loved seeing Eloise and Daniel again.

Loved some of the phrasing, Eloise saying"It's about TIME".

  Desmond asking Charlie: "Is none of this real?"

  "Always a choice, brother"

  the MRI guy giving Desomd "The BUTTON". Ha!!

  Widmore sharing the good Scotch with Desmond.

  The other line I thought was potentially very revealing was Mrs. Widmore saying(and I'm paraphrasing, my note taking was off it's game last night) to Desomnd in the A/R:" You finally attained what you always wanted, my husband's approval." isd that a glimpse into what the A/R reality is providing our "heroes" with?

  I think that's all I got...What did I miss ? What did you guys think?

LOST 6.10 "The Package"

So, now we know once and for all(I think) that Widmore is NOT on Flocke's side. Beyond that, I don't know what we are supposed to think about him.

So, Island, first?

  Starts with night vision, which turns out to be the Widmorians surveiling the Flockians.

  Flocke talking to Sayid- Was that depressing or what ? I STILL think that Sayid is going to end up sacrificing himself to save the good guys...He just doesn't seem comfortable being soulless and unfeeling.

  Flocke talks to Jin about his name being on the wall,a nd how Flocke needs him. Seems to just creep Jin out some more.
  Flocke goes off to try and recruit Sun...Jin decides that he is getting out of camp...The Widmorians come in and tranq everybody, and then take Jin.

  Flocke sees Sun and tries to convince her to come with him...She ain't buying it and runs away...Flocke chases until she hits her head.

  Flocke returns to camp, tells Claire that he is "3 people shy of getting off this Island", but that he still needs Claire, even though her name isn't on the wall anymore. It seems that Claire doesn't want to leave, but Flocke essentially tells her that after Kate convinces the "other 3" to leave with Flocke, then Kate is no longer needed(Claire can kill her).
  Something about that conversation has me more convinced than ever that Flocke plans to kill at least the Candidates, if not everyone before he leaves.

  Richard returns to the Ilana-ites, and he tells them that they have to go destroy the plane because it is the Flocke's only way off the Island.This sends Sun into a tirade(in Korean, because her knock on the noggin has knocked out her ability to speak English) about how she doesn't care about destiny or mission, she wants her family on one place at the same time.

  Flocke and Sayid go to see Widmore to get Jin back. Flocke tells the Widmorians that he "Comes in peace." Riiiiight. Widmore tells him that he doesn't have Kwon(which might be true-he may not know yet).Flocke asks Widmore if Widmore knows who he is. Widmore responds that what he knows is a "combination of myth, ghost stories and jungle noises in the night."

  Flocke responds, "A wise man once said that war is coming to this Island. I think it just got here."

Jack convinces Sun that he will get her and Jin off the Island.

Jin wakes up in Room 23(Carl's brainwash room) and demands to talk to Widmore. Widmore shows Jin pictures of his daughter and Sun, and tells him that if Flocke succeeds, then everyone will "cease to exist".
He then takes Jin to show him a "package".
  We see the Widmorians taking DESMOND off the sub!!!! So does Sayid, who is playing frogman recon guy in the water.

  A/R
   Jin and Sun are not married.
  Jin was delivering the money as payment for his own execution.
JIn and Sun are having a secret affair(also why Jin is being murdered).
   Sun cannot speak English, but wants to run away to U.S. with Jin. She has a secret bank account.
Keamey comes to the hotel room and tells them they need to give him the money, which has been confiscated by customs. Keamey brings in Mikhail(with 2 eyes!) to translate, and Sun says that she can go to the bank and get the money. Mikhail goes with Sun to get the money, Keamey takes Jin to the restaurant.

  The bank account is empty. Sun's father emptied it.
Sayid kills the bad guys and gives Jin the razor so he can free himself.Mikhail and Sun arrive, Jin and Mikhail struggle, Mikhail gets shot in the eye!!! Pregnant Sun also gets shot.

   Questions/Answers

  Apparently, Flocke cannot become the smoke monster whenever he wants(Sawyer saying "that would be ridiculous" was one of the best lines of the series so far)...But when can he?

  What is Desmond there for?

  What does Widmore know about Flocke?

  What does Alpert know about Flocke?

  What does Ben know about Flocke?

  I liked that Flocke was not able to corrupt either Jin or Sun. Nice to see,.

  Flocke told Calire that Kate was not on the wall anymore...Is that true? Or did he lie to her? If her name isn't on the wall....Why not?

Why is Widmore looking for the electromagnetic pockets?

  One more thing, that doesn't necessarily have to do with last night's show...Did Elosie tell them they had to take Locke's body because they needed it to show them that Flocke was NOT Locke ?Or was the "proxy" thing real?

Okay, so what did i miss ? What do youse guyses think ?

LOST Episode 6.9: Ab Aeterno

So, we finally know the back story of one Mr. Richard Alpert. And I for one, am not disappointed.This was a great episode, and it did answer some questions, and raised some others.

  I have to admit, when the MIB first came and spoke to Richard, he almost had me convinced that Jacob WAS the Devil. He was very persuasive. I like how he waited until Richard was almost dead to come and see him, waiting until he was at his most vulnerable. then telling Richard what he wants to hear, and then offering Richard a reunion with his wife in exchange for "killing the devil".

So, what did we actually learn?

  It seems that the Island is a sort of prison for the MIB. Did I read the bottle metaphor correctly there?
   Are we to believe that the MIB is Evil Incarnate, then? I'm guessing by Hurley's last line that we are to believe just that.

  The MIB will promise anyone anything to get what he wants.He can and will lie.

  The MIB thinks that everyone is evil by nature and corruptable. Jacob brings people to the Island to prove him wrong.

  We now know how the statue was destroyed.

  Only people who were invited could enter the Jacob's spot under the statue.

  Interesting to see Jacob change whatever his previous strategy was when he realizes that the MIB now intends to kill him. He "hires" Richard to speak on his behalf.

I thought this was a great episode.I thought Nestor Carbonell was fantastic. the little giggle he gave when they asked him what to do next was great, and my heart was breaking at the end when he was talking to Isabella.I was quite worried that he was going to go to "The Dark Side", and that would have bummed me out.

  I cannot believe there are only 8 episodes left.

LOST 6.8 Recon

Not a great episode, in my opinion, but I'm not a big sawyer OR Kate fan, so that's that.

  I also didn't think there was really all that much information in this episode either, quite frankly. I guess it was maybe meant as a bit of a palate cleanser between the two halves of the season ?(alas, it is half over...sniff..sob).

It did seem sorta like this episode was everybody lying to everybody else.

ISLAND:

  Sawyer lies to Widmore, lies to Jin, apparently. Sorta lies to NotLocke.
  NotLocke lies to the group. Lied to Claire.
Widmore lies to Sawyer ?
  Sawyer & Zoe lie to each other.
And I still don't think NotLocke intends to get anyone off the Island.

  I liked NotLocke calling Sawyer the best liar he had ever met. Is that a "takes one to know one" quote, or what?

  I'm also guessing we have not heard the last of NotLocke's "Mommy" issues...And speaking of that, do you think he's trying to manipulate Kate into killing or trying to kill Claire?

Other than that, what to say about Island life this week...How batshit crazy is Claire? What do you think was up with grabbing Kate's heand while Locke was talking to the group? Do you think she was having a "positive" moment(like she had near the end of the episode), and warning Kate not to contradict what Locke was saying about the Temple ? Not that I thought Kate was going to say anything, but maybe Claire did? Or was she trying to lull her into a false sense of safety, to pull off her sneak attack? Whatever it was, it was kinda creepy.

  And speaking of creepy...How about Sayid ? I think he is probably going to have a major redemptive moment in the second half of the season...Everything just seems to be weighing so heavily on him...I can't imagine he won't be allowed to redeem himself somehow.

  And did anyone else think that the "dramatic moment" at the end when sawyer said they were taking the sub was kind of stupid? Why was that played so dramatically? It would be easier to take the sub, wouldn't it?

Speaking of the sub...Are we sure that Widmore wants Locke dead? he never said that, Sawyer did. Are we to assume that Widmore is on Jacob's side ? or just on his own side? Are we really to assume anything ?

  And who were all the dead people on the beach? were they the other survivors of the Ajira plane crash? Are we to think that Smokey killed them all?

  Alternate Reality

  Sawyer's a COP? What the what ? One potential issue I have with that...Did he see the handcuffs on Kate before he helped her in the airport?

  Good to see Miles and Charlotte. Did it look like Charlotte was digging in his dresser while she was looking for the shirt? Like she was looking for something else? I would guess not by how she reacted, but you never know, do you? Nice to see her kick Sawyer to the curb when he showed up at her apartment.

  Interesting to see Charlie's brother(looking fairly clean) at the Police station...Does this mean we are going to see Charlie again(good lord, I hope not) or was it just a nod to the audience(like the use of the code name "LaFleur") ?

Also, I guess since Charlotte works with Miles' dad, that means that Dr. Chang got off the Island before it sank? Or was he never there?

   Interesting that Sawyer is still hunting the guy who he holds responsible for his parent's deaths.I'm wondering how that will play out since it seems that Locke actually still has a relationship with his father in the A/R.

  Also interesting that Sawyer is the first one in the A/R so far to have a really negative reaction when looking in the mirror(smashing it). They have all sort of paused when looking at their reflections, but no one has been as angry or disgusted as Sawyer.

  Nice "people aren't really gone when they die." quote from "Little House"...Kinda has a different connotation on LOST, doesn't it ?

And of course, it ends with Kate crashing into Sawyer, and Sawyer uttering yet another "Son of a bitch"es.

  So, what do you think ? What did I miss?

LOST 6.7- "Dr. Linus"

Wow, this was a good one.
I have always liked Ben. Even when he was being evil, there was something I liked about him.I think maybe it's because there was this bizarre purity in his manipulation ? I don't know what it was, but I was always pulling for Ben, and I was actually sorta depressed on Tuesday night when it looked like he was gonna join NotLocke's posse. I actually was more upset then when Sayid turned evil, I think only because Sayid's turning was sort of out of his hands, and Ben's, while made in a moment of self preservation and desperation, was still a choice.

But let's back up a bit first.

Island:
  Did anyone else think that Miles was going to lie about Ben killing Jacob? I kept flashing back to his attempted bribery of Ben in Season....3? Or maybe it was 4...I'm not sure anymore, but anyway, I was a little surprised when he told Ilana that Ben killed Jacob.Does Miles know that Ben killed his Dad in the Purge ? DID Ben kill Dr. Chaing in the purge ? Do we know? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone ? Bueller? Bueller ? Bueller?

  I loved the way Miles said "Uh-oh" when Ilana told Ben that Jacob "was the closest thing I ever had to a father." he was like a sassy kid on a '70's sitcom.
  I also thought it was interesting that Jacob hoped that he was wrong about Ben until the moment Ben stabbed him.
  One other Miles question: I have not been able to go back and watch it again, did he say that Nikki & Paulo were buried alive, or did he just say that they were buried with diamonds?

The one real problem I had with this whole Ilana/Ben thing was why Ilana would stand so far away while he was digging. Not a big problem, but it seemed a bit odd, and mostly so that Ben could run and get to the rifle. Though I must admit that I thought there would be no rifle when Ben got there.

  I did like Ben's plea to Ilana, and I liked that she was willing to have him in the fold(though I suspect it was as much to keep him away from Locke as anything else). Though one certainly must question Bens' motives, a sit is hard to think he would turn down the chance to be in charge of the Island, but I am hooping he's just smart enough to know that NotLocke is not to be trusted, and not that he is going to sabotage Ilana & crew to help out NotLocke.

  I did feel bad for Ben as he was explaining his actions to Ilana, and that little speech makes me think that he actually does regret things.

  Bne helping Sun when he returned to the camp raised my same questions about what exactly Sun is up to, and that was only intensified when that scene was followed by the BIG REVEAL of the episode....WIDMORE!!!!! Do you think that Widmore is the person that Jacob wanted to help find the island? Was Widmore banished against Jacob's wishes? Whose side is he on? Was he helping Locke knowing that Locke was a pawn for the MIB?

  It was good to see Richard again, and to finally get our answer that he did arrive on the island via the Black Rock. Glad that Jack wouldn't let him die.Pretty cool to see a beach reunion again.

  Ilana said that she was there to protect the Candidates to replace Jacob, and now there are 6...Who are the 6? 1.Hurley 2. Jack 3. Sawyer 4. Kwon(Jin or Sun) 5. Kate ? 6. ? Is it Lapidus? he said he was supposed to be flying Flight 815, and the Island did manage to get him there another way(TWICE,actually).

Alternate Reality:

   First of all: Great to see Doc Arzt, Alex & Ben's Dad again.I was a little bummed that we did not get to see a non-crazy Rousseau, but we can't have it all, I suppose, and maybe we'll get to see her in another episode.
And does William Atheron(the guy who played the Principal), ever NOT play a dick? Ghostbusters, Real Genius,Die Hard...Now LOST,jeepers, what a creep.

  I think this was my favorite alternate reality episode so far. I liked how tightly it tied to both the back story and current episode on the Island.

  It was interesting to see Ben as someone who was uncomfortable with the kind of blackmail/manipulation that was second nature to him on the Island.And I must admit, for a split second, when he entered the Principal's office, I thought he had disregarded Alex' future and taken Reynolds' job anyway. Very glad to see that he didn't. I did like the use of the phrase "unfortunate side effect".

  Also liked Locke being the one who planted the seed of Ben being the Principal. Very clever.

  Alright, so what did I miss ? What did you guys think ?

Lost 6.6- Sundown

Say it ain't SO, Sayid!

  This one was kinda depressing. Sayid was one of my favorite characters,and to see him succumb like that was sad really.

  I did like how he handled Keamy in the Alternate reality, though.It was neat how they showed him size up that kitchen when they walked him into it.

  What first, Alternate Reality or island ? I thought much less happened of interest in the AR, so let's get that out of the way, first.

  So, Nadia is married to Sayid's brother, because Sayid feels he doesn't "deserve her". His brother gets in trouble with a loan shark, Sayid bails him out kills loan shark, and then finds Jin locked in a closet.
  Is Sayid actually a translator ?

  What is Jin doing in the closet? Did he screw something up with Keamy? Was he set up by Paik?

  Back to the island....Sayid go4es to Dogon for answers, they fight,and Sayid loses, and is banished, presumably because Dogon cannot kill him...Why can't he? Is he not allowed to kill, or can he just not do it?
   Miles tells Sayid that he was dead for 2 hours...The spring didn't save him.

  After Claire shows up with the message from Not-Locke, Dogon tells Sayid that things have changed, and that he now needs Sayid to kill Not-Locke, who he says is "evil incarnate". Dogon warns Sayid that if Not-Locke speaks, it's too late. Did he mean that literally ? is that why it did not work when Sayid stabbed him? Or did Dogon want Not-Locke to kill Sayid? I'm not sure on this.Claire did say that maybe Dogon should send someone that Not-Locke won't kill.

  Not-Locke is clearly a manipulator, and seemingly an outright liar. I don't know exactly how he intends to get Claire back to Aaron. By taking her off the island ? She's convinced(by Not-Locke) that the Others have Aaron on the Island. It seems to me that Not-Locke is telling anyone anything they want to hear to help him...That generally doesn't end up working out well.

  Do you think Kate, Sawyer and Jin are with Not-Locke? or are they just keeping themselves alive ? And where is sawyer ? i presume that Jin is in Claire's "hut",is Sawyer with him?

I guess it's a little bit clearer who the 'bad guy" is now ?He did say that he would kill "the ones who don't do what I say?"...that doesn't sound like a good guy to me.

  Also, when will Claire turn on Kate ?

We learned Dogon's back story...And of course he died right after. I wonder who else on the island made deals with Jacob? Not-Locke ? Richard ?

  Naveen Andrews is pretty good at playing crazy/evil, huh? That look he gave Ben was creeeeeeepy!

  Was it me, or did Ben seem genuinely concerned about Sayid before he got terrified ?

  So, now Sun knows that Jin is still alive.I wonder how that will all play out.

  Here's something that occurred to me last night...Did they ever resolve the plotline about Sun working with Widmore ?Or is it possible that she is somehow still working with him ?

Lost 6.5- Lighthouse-"We weren't looking for it."

So, Claire's Crazy AND being manipulated by a, if not evil, at least extremely self serving(to the detriment of those around him) force. That's gonna work out well for everybody, isn't it ?

  So, Claire thinks that the Others have her baby because her dad and her "friend" told her so. I'm guessing we are supposed to think that those two people are both the MIB, right ? And he has convinced her that the Others have her kid so she will do just what she did last night- kill and/or torture them.

  My other big question is: Does Claire see the MIB as Locke ? Or because she's been "claimed"(or infected, or whatever) does she see him as the MIB, or as a pillar of smoke ?

  And how creepy was that "baby" she had in the bassinet ? Yikes!!

  The one other thing that I thought was interesting, before she axed BLT, he told Claire that she was remembering her time in the temple wrong. What does that mean ? It looks like they did the same things to her that they did to Sayid, but what else happened while she was there ? Because it seems like she's remembering the "test" pretty well.

The lighthouse- That was pretty crazy, huh ? I guess we got another glimpse at what the numbers mean...But I still am not sure how they ended up on the hatch, or why they were the numbers typed into the computer.Or why they drove the guy that Hurley heard them from crazy.

  Who do you think 108 is ? My guess is Desmond.

I thought Hurley was great in this episode. I loved his question about Adam & Eve. And comparing Jacob to Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Funny that Jacob knew exactly what to say to get Jack "motivated" to go to the Lighthouse with Hurley.Reference his Dad. Good old Jack.
  I did feel bad for Jack when he said the he came back to the island because he was broken, and he was stupid enough to think that the island could fix him. I think that maybe it will in the long run.

Did anyone else think that now that we have seen the lighthouse, that maybe the cave is actually the MIB's "office" or "lab" and Jacob's is in the lighthouse?

I'm very curious what will go on with Sayid.

  Any significance to Miles & Hurley playing Tic-tac-toe?

   Jack's a Dad! And wants to be a good one.

Jen very wisely pointed out that the initial communication between jack and David is like Micheal & Walt.

When David was gone, I immediately thought that he had been kidnapped. I keep waiting for the Island world to infringe on the Alternate Reality.

  Do you think David's Mom will be someone we already know ?

  How crazy was it to see Dogon at the conservatory ? I must admit, I am really liking how they are plugging all these people into each other's lives.

Lost 6.04 The Substitute

Well, things certainly got a little more interesting last night, didn't they ?

Finally, we get a Locke/Not-Locke story.
  We see John return home from the airport in the Alternate Reality- he's still with Helen. He doesn't seem as angry as he was in the other time line( he took the face plant onto the lawn and the sprinklers coming on pretty well, I thought).There were still flashes of the other reality Locke, but he was definitely different.Happier, in general, but still a bit troubled.He also still has relationship with his Dad, apparently...Why is he in the wheelchair, then? Did he reconcile with his Dad after his dad threw him out a window ?
  Then he gets fired, runs into Hurley, who offers him another job at his temp agency, where he runs into the psychic that Hurley's Dad paid to "exorcise" Hurley in the original reality, and then to Rose, who is her fantastic, matter of fact self with Locke...And THEN, he runs into BEN LINUS-high school teacher ? WHAT?!?!?!?!? I totally did not see that coming! I thought he was going to run into Dr. Arzt, but BEN!?!?!?!? That was just craziness! I did like when Helen was asking what the odds of running into a spinal surgeon were.
  I also think that last night Rose solidified her place as one of my favorite characters on the show. She's just so no-nonsense and awesome. I lover her!
  Now, on the ISLAND-We get to see things from Smokey's perspective, that was pretty cool. I thought the conversation between Not-Locke and Richard Alpert was pretty interesting. Its' hard to tell whether he is telling the truth, lying, or whether he's lying but he believes what he's saying, when he portrays Jacob as the bad guy in all of this.Richard is certainly terrified of Not-Locke.He didn't buy "I would have treated you with respect.", that's for sure. he also mentioned Locke as a "candidate", but more about that later.And who was the kid that Not-Locke & Sawyer saw but Richard didn't ? Or was Richard just trying to freak Not-Locke out ? My gut reaction is that the kid is Jacob reincarnated somehow...But then that just seems crazy when I write it down.
   I thought the Not-Locke/Sawyer interaction was pretty interesting. I particularly liked when Sawyer said"Locke was scared, even when he was pretending he wasn't." At first I thought Not-Locke was going to try and engineer an accident that kills Sawyer, but now it seems like he wants to use him to get off the island.I'm wondering how much Sawyer believes/trusts Not-Locke, he seems like he should be a bit smarter than that, so I wonder if he's working an angle.
  And that brings us to the cave, and a partial explanation of why they are on the island, and of the numbers.

LOST 6.3- "What Kate Does"(Do Not Read Until You Have Watched the Episode)

I dunno...Kind of a let down episode after the premiere, if you ask me. Not a bad episode, but I thought that Claire being the big reveal at the end was sort of expected, as we knew she was coming back, and she was so central to the alternate reality timeline last night, it wasn't that shocking...And really, ever since she was sitting in the cabin with Christian with that evil look on her face, that she was "affected" in some way.

  I guess the big question is what exactly does "affected" mean ? Does it mean evil ? Does it mean crazy ? Was Rousseau "affected' ? I think we are at least supposed to consider the possibility, with the raps that Claire had set and all, that she has replaced Rousseau as the island "crazy cat lady" so to speak.

  Or does "affected" mean something worse than that? Is it some sort of cahoots with the MIB ? Is the Claire that was in the cabin with Christian the same one that shot the Others and trapped Jin last night ? Or was the Claire in the cabin just an island specter manifestation thing ? I don't know....I just don't know.

  And another thing with the "infected" thing...Was the poison going to kill Sayid, or kill the "darkness" inside him? Why did he need to take it willingly ? If they wanted to kill him, why not just kill him ? Could they not "just" kill him ? Does he have to be poisoned ? Or do they need Sayid to be alive, but the "darkness" to die? Is Sayid one of the people they "need" or not ?

   Let's head to the alternate reality for a minute. I was sort of expecting that we were going to recognize the couple that Claire was going to give her baby to, but I didn't. Did anyone else ?

  How crazy was it to see Ethan ? And I guess the fact that his name was Goodspeed tells us that he was in fact, Hiorace's son ? Here's the bigger question...Do you think that it means that he has never been to the island ? Does that fit the timeline ? Interesting either way, and it was also interesting watching Ethan not be all creepy and menacing for once.

I liked the look between Kate and Jack as she was escaping the airport, and i like how it set us up to think that the doctor she walked up to in the hospital was going to be Jack, but no, it was ETHAN!!!!
  Interesting that Claire somehow "knew" to name her son Aaron.

That's about all i got for the alternate reality timeline this week, anything I missed ?

  Back to the Island timeline. I actually felt bad for Sawyer when he was talking about Juliet.It was good to hear that he blamed himself for her death, because the hating Jack for it thing was gonna get tired pretty quick. It is kind of sad that he has completely reverted to not caring about anyone...I'm assuming there will be a moment where that will change again. Will it be Kate that inspires it ? After Sawyer's speech about Juliet tonight, I kinda hope it isn't.

  I liked Jack's exchanges with Dogan.I'm digging Dogan as a character.I think he's a good addition. I do wonder when he was brought to the island, though.

  I did like how Dogan played Jack like a fiddle to get him to give Sayid the pill by asking why sayid died and all that."Here is your chance for redemption". Awesome!
  Two favorite lines in the episode ?
  Sayid: No, I am not a zombie. Just the way he said it, like he really wanted to put Hurley at ease.

  AND
  Miles: "We'll be in the food court if you need us." HA!!

I did like Miles acknowledging Hurley's new leadership skills, though I think he was being sarcastic.

  So, that's my take...What did I miss ? Whaddy'all think ?

LOST 6.1 & 6.2- LAX Parts 1 & 2

So, what the hell was THAT all about ?
  I'm thinking I'm not gonna recount the whole episode, just kinda throw out some of the interesting stuff, is that cool with everyone ?

  I guess this season will be about alternate realities, eh ?

  It seems as though we are looking at one reality in which the plane landed safely at LAX, and one where the plane crashed as it had before. Maybe ?

  Upon the episode ending, my first thought was that what was going to happen was that the bomb detonation had kept the plane from crashing, but the "important" people were still going to end up on the island in 2007. It seemed that fate was keeping them connected.Kate & Sawyer, Kate & Claire, Jack & Locke, etc. And that fate/destiny/Jacob was still going to put them all on the island in the "present day" on the show.

  I am now realizing(with help from good old Doc Arzt )that I may have misread the opening pan through the underwater island(or actually sort of glossed over it completely-kind of embarrassing).What if the detonation of the bomb submerged the island ? And THAT'S what we were seeing in the pan down from the plane ? So the people on the island in 2007 exist in an "alternate reality" where the plane still crashed ? How the hell will THAT get resolved ? I am pretty excited to find out.

  The only question I have about the theory is that Jack seemed to have some inkling on the plane that there was something weird going on.And what's the deal with the cut on his neck ? And why was Desmond on the plane ?

  Some questions answered...I guess we know what the smoke monster is now.

   The MIB says to Richard that it was nice to see him out of those chains...Could Richard have been a slave on the Black Rock ? Or was he imprisoned on the island at some point ? He definitely knew who the MIB was, that's for sure.

  I thought it was interesting for Ben to come to the realization that he was completely played by the MIB. It was sort of sad. I thought it was interesting when Ben asks why "Jacob didn't fight back" and the MIB says that "Maybe he knew he was beaten." Do you think that's true ? He seemed to what Ben to choose not to kill him, but he didn't do anything to stop it. Could he not try to stop it ? Or is it going to be like Asland in Narnia, where his dying will make him more powerful ?

  Let's see, what else was there... The MIB told Ben that he wants to go home... Where do you think that is ? Is it on or off the island ? Why is he captive in the first place ?

Also, the ash is used to protect from Smokey, do you think it was keeping him in or out of the cabin ?

  I liked seeing Hurley taking on a bit of a leadership role. It suits him.

  It was interesting to see Ben try to stay in control after he left the temple, but Richard was having none of it.

How does Juliet know that "it worked"?

  Will there be more significance to the airline losing Jack's Dad ? or was it just to get Jack & Locke together?

Will Sawyer try to con Hurley ?

Also what did MIB mean when he said "I'm very disappointed in ALL of you ?"

  Okay, what did I miss ? What did y'all think ?

What an amazing situation. And all in the name of...what ?...Publicity, I guess. It certainly isn't decency, that's for sure.

I saw the jokes about Governor Palin's daughter when they first aired. I felt it was fairly obvious that he was making a joke about Bristol Palin(The "knocked up" joke anyway.I think the joke about Spitzer was actually more about Spitzer, than about any of Palin's daughters, really), who has made herself a public figure by speaking on behalf of Teen Abstinence, after being paraded around by Governor Palin during the campaign.

Governor Palin and her husband brought their 14 year old daughter into the equation. I think that is in pretty poor taste.

Here's one thing I have been thinking...Shouldn't she really be above this ? I mean, she IS the Governor of Alaska, and she clearly has higher political aspirations, shouldn't she have more important things to worry about than what a talk show host is aying about her or her family ? I would hope that if she does ascend to higher office(and God help us all if that happens), she will not spend all of her time responding to jokes made about her or her family.

Another thing I have been thinking, is that even after Dave offered the explanation above for the jokes, people are still claiming that he supports "rape". That is irresponsible, inflammatory and also untrue.

I also don't thing that any of this has as much to do with politics as people seem to want to believe. I read a comment on the Late Show Facebook page where someone said Dave was making these comments for "political gain"...Huh ? What political gain ? Is he running for office ? it would seem to me that Governor Palin is the one using the situation for political gain. Which I think is pretty clear in her mention of the "Hollywood/N.Y entertainers".

Dave has definitely been rougher on Republicans than Democrats, but if I'm not mistaken, Spitzer is a Democrat, and hell, Dave still makes jokes about Bill Clinton. I guess he has not made enough jokes about Obama, but I sorta figure that will come in time.

And of course, there are now all the calls for firings and boycotts, mostly based on erroneous assumptions about the whole situation.

Okay, I don't really know that I have anything left to say about this, I just kinda wanted to add my two cents.

Will Ferrell- SNL- Goodnight Saigon

Wait, it's not about LOST ? What the fuck, man ?

I TiVO SNL every Saturday(that it's new) and I watch it usually sometime on Sunday. I like this because lately, I can usually watch it in about 20- 25 minutes...If I like the band, maybe 30 minutes. When Will Ferrell hosted on Saturday, I actually watched the whole thing...And found most of it funny. I was pretty surprised.

They did a Celebrity Jeopardy where Tom Hanks played himself as an imbecile, and Norm MacDonald showed up as Burt Reynolds halfway through and left before it ended.

There was a very odd sketch at a funeral where a long line of people(including Maya Rudolph) came up and made stranger and stranger announcements, which I found very funny.

The lovely and talented Amy Poehler returned to do Weekend Update with Seth Meyers.

And then there was the Final Sketch, which I think just needs to be seen:

It's just brilliant and surreal and odd, and full of random cameos, and then, I think the fact that it was all a distraction so the Will Ferrell character did not have to pay his tab just capped it perfectly.

Alright, I think I'm gonna watch it again.

LOst 5.16/17: "The Incident"

Holy H-Bombs, Jacob!!!

Wow, where does one start with that episode ? i guess with the beginning. We get to meet Jacob! And he's not Jack, or Locke , or Christian...He's Jacob. And he's apparently some godlike fellow. We also meet someone else(Esau-I am not fully brushed up on my Bible, but i know Esau was Jacob's brother and did some bad stuff).
We also get the implication that Jacob keeps bringing people to the island to run them through some sort of "experiment' that always seems to go the same way "they come, fight, destroy, corrupt". It always ends the same way. And Jacob seems to want to prove this other fellow wrong. About what ? Human nature, I'm assuming.

then, the guy says that he wants to kill Jacob,and that someday he will "find a loophole", and Jacob says he'll be right here.

Fast forward to the end, and we find out that undead Locke is actually this other guy from the beginning of the episode who "found his loophole", and has Ben kill Jacob. To quote Shelley Bravlofski.."WHAT?WHAT?WHAT?"

So, Locke is really dead. And this other guy, who I am going to call Esau, just fro brevity's sake, had Richard tell Locke that Locke needed to die to get everyone to come back to the Island. And that MIGHT be true, but the real reason that Esau needed Locke to die and be brought back to the Island was so that he could assume his form, as he has done with Christian Shepherd(and Ben's Mom? and Claire ? And whom else ?Maybe not Ben's Mom, since she did not die on the Island).

Poor John Locke, a dupe to the end.

But, did Jacob seems a little too accepting of his death ? He seemed to almost egg Ben on with "What About YOU?", didn't he ? is he gonna be kinda like Obi-Wan Kenobi, or(as I saw mentioned on a LOST blog) like Aslan, from The Lion, the Witch and The Wardrobe ? In dying, he will become more powerful ? perhaps ?

Also, who are Ilana and them working for ? I presume it's Jacob, but I am confused.

And why was Jacob out there (literally) touching the Oceanic 6 at different points in their lives? making sure they would come to the Island ? Guiding their courses ? Or, is it possible that whom we saw was not Jacob at all, but Esau, and they all played a part in his scheme ? he did say,"And you have no idea what I had to do" to get/use his loophole.I think it probably was Jacob, I'm just throwing the thought out there.

Are we all assuming that it was Esau that was trapped in the cabin ? I am thinking that it was, since it's the people in the cabin that have been manipulating Locke. But then, who let him out ?Who had him trapped there ?

We did find out that Ben had never spoken to Jacob. Was Ben deceiving Locke when he brought him to the cabin to meet Jacob, or is that where Ben thought he was ?

the whole Jack/Kate/Sawyer/Juliet thing was as annoying as always.Though I did feel bad that Juliet got killed(or did she ?).
I still think that the detonation of the H-Bomb will send Jack, Sawyer, Kate, Hurley, Miles, Juliet ? and Sayid back to their present time(2007 right?) on the Island, so that they can take part in whatever the battle is going to be.Though I cannot figure out who will be fighting who exactly.
i think they were who Jacob was talking about when he said "They're coming" before Esau/Not-Locke pushed him into the fire.
How great was it to see Rose and Bernard ? And how great were their reactions ? "Oh hell no" and 'Son of a bitch!" AWESOME!!! I hope that they don't get pulled to 2007 too. i liked them where they were.

Also nice to see Phil get his. Wes aw Dr. Chang lose his arm. radzinski survived so that he can still blow his brains out in the Swan.

What might Lapidus be a candidate for ? A body for Jacob, perhaps ?

Interesting that Jacob was not in Juliet's flashback, and Miles did not have one at all.

Loved Lapidus' line"Usually, the guys in a rush to say they're the good guys are the bad guys."(I'm pretty sure I got that wrong, but I think i got the gist)

Lost- What's Gonna Happen ?

I don't think there are any HUGE spoilers in here, but I do mention some stuff that happened in the last few episodes, so if you have not seen them yet, don't go on.

I have been thinking about this a lot since Wednesday night. Just what the hell is gonna happen on that damn island ? What's gonna happen in 1977 ? What's gonna happen in 2007 ? How will one affect the other ? It makes my head spin.

But that doesn't mean it's not fun. Here is what I think I'm thinking is going to happen in the season finale next week, and beyond.

First of all, I do not think that exploding Jughead is going to keep Oceanic Flight 815 from crashing. In fact, just as I was deciding to write this, I had a thought...What if Eloise Hawking from 2007 is manipulating the detonation of Jughead so that the people who were on the Ajira flight(Ilana and Graham, et al) cannot find it and use it in the "war for the island" that is coming ? I have not had a lot of time to fully realize that thought, but I figured I would toss it out there.

Think that whatever Jack does with the bomb in the season finale is going to shuttle Jack and Kate and Sawyer and Hurley and Juliet and Sayid and whomever else(or at least those that survive) BACK to 2007, so that they can participate in this battle for the island.

On the Locke front...I can't decide whether I think he is good or evil. I think he is probably still good. Thought it was weird to find out that Locke himself was the one who told Richard to tell him that he had to die in order to bring everyone back to the island. But I guess it all comes down to what you think he meant when he said he was going to "kill Jacob". Does he think he can set Jacob free by killing him( Jacob did say "help me" to John when John was in the cabin the first time,and there has never been an explanation for the grey dust encircling the ground outside the cabin- i still think Jacob is imprisoned in that cabin...But why ?) ? Does he think that he can seize complete control by killing Jacob ? Or did he simply tell Ben that he was going to kill Jacob so that Ben would tell Richard ?

I am finding it hard to believe that after all he has been through, NOW Locke would be evil. Unless he's not really John Locke anymore, and instead the embodiment of some malevolent spirit. My guess is that if he does plan to kill Jacob, then he believes it is the right thing to do for the good of the island. And what is good for the island is good for those that "belong" on the island.

I am of a kind that Ilana, Graham, et al are either the children of the Dharma Initiative, or they have simply reformed the Dharma Initiative, or both, and they have come back to avenge the deaths of their loved ones, and reclaim the island. I think that the battle for the island will be the final season.

there, that's what I think...I think.

Lost 5.15-Follow The Leader

Wow. Quite a bit to digest from last night's episode.Has Locke gone loco? Or do you trust what he's planning to do ? Do you think that killing Jacob is somehow the "right" thing to do ? It does seem that someone has Jacob trapped in that cabin. And he did say "Help me" to Locke. Either way,Ii thought Locke(and more importantly, Terry O'Quinn) was really good tonight. "I have a purpose now." "I'm not afraid of anything you can do anymore, Ben". "The island told me."
The only troubling aspect is Locke lying to Sun. That was unsettling. Unless he wasn't actually lying. Very interesting developments. It was nice to see Ben get back to his manipulative ways, telling Locke about Richard's concerns.
And what is the deal with Richard and Ben and Jacob ? I think Locke might be right, I don't think Ben ever saw Jacob.Has Richard ? I loved Ben and Richard's exchange :"I think Locke may be a problem" 'Why do you think i tried to kill him ?"
Also interesting to see Sawyer once again dive headlong into self-interest.I do wonder how Kate and Sawyer and Juliet end up back on the island(it's pretty clear from the promos for next week's season finale that they do). Do you think that they get white lighted out of the sub, because they are still supposed to be on the island ? Or do they decide to get off the sub and go back? And how exactly would they pull that off ?

Did anyone else kinda hope that Sayid would shoot Kate when she told him that she and Sawyer saved Ben ? I kinda did.She has basically tortured jack for 3 years, and she doesn't get why he might want to try and avoid that, along with saving a couple of hundred lives ? And when she can't manipulate jack, she goes and plops herself down between Sawyer and Juliet(not that I'm any big fan of theirs either, but still). I think the reason Kate doesn't want Jack to keep the plane from crashing was that the plane crash(never mind the casualties), actually worked in Kate's favor. If the plane doesn't crash, she goes to jail. I know that's oversimplifying a bit, but that's at the heart of it, and I think I would like it better if she had the guts to just say that.

How good was it to see Sayid again ?I think he might actually be my favorite character. he does what he needs to do. I also loved his line about what Jack was doing that even if it didn't work it would "put us out of our misery."

I cannot help but feel that Ellie may be playing Jack. If she remembered Daniel from when they buried the bomb, why did she shoot him ? I would think she might have recognized him, even from behind. I don't totally trust her. Though she did seem shocked when she saw her handwriting in the journal. I'm just so confused !!

It was nice to see Miles get a little insight into why his dad sent he and his Mom away so harshly.

Thought the exchange between Hurley and Dr. Chang was pretty priceless. Especially Jin's face when Hurley says there was no such thing as the Korean war. Is Hurley supposed to be some sort of statement on the state of our public schools ? Doesn't know who the President was in 1977, thinks the Korean war didn't happen.

Loved when Ben said that Richard had been an advisor for a really,really,really long time.

Anyone else gonna be pretty excited when Dharma Phil finally gets his ? I'm also hoping that they will change history and we'll get to see Radzinsky die, too. As much as i dislike sawyer, i thought the whole interrogation was a bit over the top.

I almost completely forgot about Richard saying that he saw Jack, Kate, et al "all die". How crazy was that ? And was he being truthful ? We don't really have a line on how untruthful/manipulative Ricihard can be, do we ? I think he's playing some angle, I just don't know what it is.

Next Wednesday cannot come soon enough!

LOST: Season 5 Episode 3 : Jughead

I am talking about last night's episode here. Run away if you have not seen it!!!

The prevailing thought seems to be that Ellie, the woman who was holding the gun on Farraday and walked him to the bomb is going to tun out to be his MOTHER, which is a little mind-blowing, and does that also mean that Widmore could be his Dad ?

The thing that I have been wondering is this: What happens on the island between 1950 and when young Ben meets Richard out in the woods ? Richard looked like a wild woodsman then, but they are all fairly civilized and clean cut in 1950, so there must be some sort of "event" right? or I suppose Richard could be "dressing the part" when he meets Ben, just like the Others do whenever they first encounter the Losties, but I always kinda thought that was Ben's conceit.

Other than that, I'm starting to wonder what the hell Farraday is up to. Is he a good guy or a bad guy ? I have always seen him as a fairly good guy, but finding out that he apparently abandoned that poor woman after experimenting with her is pretty bad. unless he is currently trying to save her, but then what of Charlotte ?

And if Widmore was bankrolling his research, then how much does he know about the Ben/Widmore relationship ?

Also, isn't it weird how much more together Farrady is now that they are ping-ponging around in time ?

And what is up with Juliet ? Just how much does she know ? Cuz, she seems to know A LOT!

I am also INTENSELY curious as to how Widmore ends up off of the island. Does he get exiled ?
Did we see a preview of Widmore/Richard Alpert tension last night ?

Have I mentioned that I think this maybe the funniest show on television ? Last week's episode may have been the best yet.
It has become so absolutely ridiculous that I can barely even explain it. I don't think they even attempt plausibility anymore.

Warning: Spoiler Alert!

For instance, WHY would two CSI's be transporting a witness to testify ? And WHY would a witness whose life is in danger be "safe housed" in an apartment that is ALL WINDOWS ? I guess so that someone could kill him with a runaway construction crane.
It was awesome !! I thought that my eyes were going to bug out of my head like has happened in so many cartoons.
And then, of course, it turns out that it was the witness' son who killed him, by accident, of course. He just wanted to scare his Dad, so he wouldn't testify, but then the crane got out of control!!
I'm telling you, it was priceless, my friends. Priceless.

Chuck returns tonight. And I am cautiously excited. I really loved the first Season, and I hope that it can sustain itself.
The Second season of Heroes has me a bit gunshy, I think(and the two hour season premiere of Heroes 3rd season did not do much to ease my concern about the show from Season 2), and I know that they very different shows and all...But still...Heroes was a show that I absolutely loved the first season, and pretty much DESPISED the 2nd, and I never would have guessed that was possible. I certainly don't foresee that happening with Chuck, but I'm still a bit cautious, that's all.
I hope that it's good.

Heroes- Season 3 Premiere(aka Any Excuse To Show A Picture Of Kristen Bell)

I will discuss plot details, etc. below.

I thought this was better than last year, but I still thought parts of it were pretty bad.

First of all- Why did they bring Maya back ? She was awful last season, and she picked up right where she left off.
I just needed to get that out of the way.

I do believe that I know why this show does frustrate me so much, at least why last night's episodes did...I would have to go back and check to see if it tracks to the first two seasons...But last night's episodes annoyed me because so much of the narrative seems to depend on people being DUMB.
Examples: Hiro with the formula. Why open the safe ? After you open the safe-why open the envelope with the formula ? After you open the envelope with the formula, why hold it up in the air ? Oh, so someone could steal it, of course !! And the "trap" for the speedster was just idiotic.

Shuresh: Why would he inject himself with that serum ? he's supposed to be a SCIENTIST, isn't he ? They should have had Maya being threatened, THEN I might have believed him just jabbing it in his arm, but otherwise, why would he do that without any real research ? DUMB !!!
They just need to kill him and Maya off together. NOW!!!

Parkman just keeps getting more and more useless. that storyline looks, to quote Mrs. Krabapple- "Pretty lame, Milhouse."

I did like some of it. I was very very happy to see the lovely Kristen Bell back as Elle, and I am hoping that her being fired does not remove her from the show. That will make me very unhappy.

I liked the villains being evil just to be evil. that has potential, I think. Though I do wonder why they keep mentioning a dozen escaped, and they only show us the same 4.

I am a bit curious as to exactly who Ali Larter's character is...Is she related to Niki/Jessica/Gina ? My initial guess is that she is who Niki became in the fire to survive.

Is Linderman a figment of Nathan's imagination ? Or is there something else going on there ?

I kinda like the Claire storyline, and the larger arc of what Peter changed, and the revelation that Angela is Sylar's mother(but is he a Petrelli ?) but I do wonder if I will make it through the season. We shall see, I guess.

100 New Classic Tee Vee Shows

This one is kinda like the Movie list idea that I did on Sandwich Flats, and stole from Avitable. Entertainment weekly also had a list of 100 New Classic Tee Vee Shows. I bolded the shows that I watched at least semi-regularly, and asterisked the ones that I really, really liked. But I have seen a lot of the shows I didn't bold, I just never watched them even semi-regularly, so I did not bold them. It was harder to do than the movie one in that way- a movie, you have seen it or not, but a tee vee show, sometimes someone you know watches it so you see it a few times, things like that.

1. The Simpsons, Fox, 1989-present*******-Greatest show ever.
2 The Sopranos, HBO (1999-2007) ******- I liked the ending. I thought it was perfect.
3 Seinfeld, NBC (1989-98) *****- I liked the last episode of this, too-I thought it was perfectly in tune with the show.
4 The X-Files, Fox (1993-2002)****** -Until David Duchovny left, one of the best.
5 Sex and the City, HBO (1998-2004) -Got tired of this show FAST.
6 Survivor, CBS (2000-present)

Summer Tee Vee- Burn Notice

Have you seen Burn Notice ? You should.

It begins it's second season on the USA Network on July 10th. The first season was just released on DVD.
It's a bout a guy who used to be a spy(okay, that rhyme was unintentional, and I will try to not do that again) and wakes up one morning in Miami and finds out that he has been "burned" which is kinda like being fired, spy-wise. You know what, here's the main character's(Michael Weston-played by Jeffrey Donovan) bio from the USA Network site:

After 10 years of serving his country working in Eastern Europe and the OPEC countries as a covert operative, Michael is living every spy's worst nightmare. While in the middle of a dangerous mission in Nigeria, Michael's "contact" informs him that he has been burned. When a spy gets fired, he doesn't get a call from human resources and a gold watch. In Michael's case, they jeopardize his life, freeze his bank accounts, dump him in Miami, and flag him on every government list known to man. They can't take away his skills or what's in his head, so they take away his assets and his resources to make sure he can never work again. They burn him.

Now Michael has a much different mission: he must find out who issued his burn notice and why he was blacklisted so that he can put his life back together. Meanwhile, he has to fend off a suddenly hostile world of old foes gunning for him. In order to survive in Miami and fund his own personal investigation, Michael enlists the help of the only two "friends" he has: Fiona (Gabrielle Anwar) an ex-IRA operative who also happens to be an ex-girlfriend and Sam (Bruce Campbell) a washed-out military intelligence contact whom the feds have keeping an eye on Michael. He's also forced to deal with the family he went halfway around the world to get away from - particularly his mother, Madeline (Sharon Gless), who couldn't be happier to have her son back in town.

Michael, on the other hand, is happiest when he is in a different hemisphere from the rest of his family. He was 17 when he left home to join the military and he never turned back. Now stuck in Miami, the one place he vowed never to return to, he must confront the bad memories of his childhood and repair the broken relationships he left behind.

As he gets closer to the truth, Michael scrapes by helping out whoever needs his services -- mostly desperate people who can't go to the police. Using his Special Ops training, some duct tape and his sardonic humor, Michael becomes a reluctant hero. It's a dangerous gig, but it's the best he can do ... for now.

That says it much better than I could. it's a great show. It's funny, Gabrielle Anwar is sexy. It's action packed. AND, it has Bruce Campbell in it. What else do you need, man ? It's just a helluva lot of fun to watch.

Hooray for Stephanie !!!
She was one of the people we(My Special Lady and I) thought would make it to the end. We thought Richard would, as well. Lisa, she was an unpleasant surprise.
And I gotta admit, for a few minutes last night, I thought that Padme

And the other judges

Were going to give it to Lisa. And that would have sucked. And it would have sucked for a number of reasons. First and foremost, it would have sucked for me because I just didn't like her. She had a sour face all the time. She whined about everything, nothing was ever her fault.

But I also think it would have been unfair from another standpoint: I cannot remember a moment when she finished highly in the challenges.She was a bottom feeder for most(if not all of the show), She was just fortunate that someone was always deemed(incorrectly, at least once) to be a lesser Chef than her. And in some ways, I don't think it would have been fair for her to win the Final Challenge unless every single thing she did was perfect and near revolutionary, or unless Richard and Stephanie screwed up monumentally.

How you do in the final challenge should be important, but what is the pint of the whole competition, if someone can hang around near the bottom of the pack, sneak into the Finale ,and then win because she did things on a par with the other Chefs ? Doesn't there have to be some cumulative effect of the competition ? Richard and Stephanie were consistently among the Top Chefs every week. If that's going to be the case, they why not just pick three chefs and have them prepare a 4 course meal ? Why bother with all the eliminations along the way ?

It's a bit of a moot point because Stephanie won, but I think there would have been some serious questioning if Lisa had won. I know I would have been up in arms.

I thought it was interesting that Richard said the he choked, and I was completely unsurprised that Tom agreed with him.

Though I must admit, I had the feeling going in that they wanted Richard to win. Not in any unfair way, but I got this vibe that Tom, in particular, really appreciated how Richard goes about things. But in the end, he just did not have his best night when he needed to have it. I also felt like he had counted on the sous chef being there the most on the second day.

Well, I think that's my two cents about this one.

Lost- Season 4 Finale

Warning: I'm discussing details of the finale below:If you have not seen it, don't look !!!

Okay, it has been a week now. I must admit, I have not watched the season finale again yet. I -plant to, it just has not happened yet.
My first reaction to the episode: Wow.
Second reaction: Wow.
Third reaction-(said to My Special Lady)- "Didn't I say that it was Locke in the coffin at the end of LAST year's season finale ?" She finally admitted that I did say that, But she may just have been agreeing because she wanted to go to bed.

There is a lot to process.

Is Jin dead ?
I don't know. Part of me says he's not. We did not actually see him die. We don't know whether he may have jumped into the water before the freighter exploded. I think I want him to be alive. But I think some people on the show are gonna be sorry that Sun thinks he's dead. She's gonna make some people PAY. But who ? Ben ? I would assume so. Jack ? Maybe. Widmore ? Could be. Her Dad ? Oh, I think so.

Kate's dream- Doc Arzt has a clip of the phone call Kate got here. It was apparently someone speaking backwards, but he plays it forwards,and it seems to say "The island needs you, You have to go back before it's too late." then, of course, she sees Claire in Aaron's room, and Claire warns her to not bring Aaron back to the island. This would seem to be in contrast to the sort of evil looking Claire that was in the cabin, wouldn't it ? didn't the Claire sitting in the cabin seem to be a little creepy ? Was that maybe not her ? was that just a manifestation to make John feel better ? Or was that not really a manifestation of Claire in kaye's dream, but just Kate's subconscious ? I think it was Claire in Kate's dream. I think she has always been about protecting Aaron, but I don't know what to think about the Claire that was in the cabin.

Locke's alias- I have read some questioning of why Locke would be using the name Jeremy Bentham, and was it just a cheap ploy by the writers? Over at Nik At Nite, Nikki lays out who the real Jeremy Bentham is, and that is quite interesting. But i think the use of any pseudonym by Locke would be for protection. He's supposed to be dead(in the crash), presumably he's hiding from Widmore and perhaps Ben. I think it makes perfect sense to me, that he would use a fake name.

Christian- He seems to be a major player in this thing now doesn't he ? At first, it seemed like he was haunting Jack because he was Jack's father and blah, blah,blah. But now he appears to Locke in the cabin. He tells Michael that "He can go."(very cool moment,by the way). Very interesting.
Dads Theme- There seems to be a definite running Father theme through the show: Jack and Christian, Claire and Christian, Locke and his birth Dad(the kidney stealing, paralyzing dick), Penny Widmore and Charles, Ben and Alex, Kate and her step dad, Sun and her Dad, Ben and his Dad..I know I'm leaving some out, but there's some major Daddy issues on that island.

Do you think Sayid is rounding people up for Ben at the end ? I think I do.

Moving the Island ? I mean, What the Fuck ? what happened ? Did they move it in time ? In space ? Both ? has it been moved before ? How Often / are we supposed to assume that Widmore moved it once, and that's why he's not on the island anymore ?

Speaking of Widmore: Is anyone else excited for the scene when he sees Desmond again ? you know it's gonna happen.
And speaking of Desmond- Can I just say that the romantic sucker in me almost jumped up and cheered when Penny was on that boat ? I was so damned happy for them. Isn't that demented ?

What else ?

The scene with Ben and Locke in the Orchid was priceless. "Do you mean time traveling bunnies ? Then yes."

I am starting to gain a weird appreciation for Ben, I must say. I know he's mostly evil, but there's just something I really like about him. Perhaps I'm evil too.

i wish we had seem Hurley playing chess with Mr. Ecko. I miss Mr. Ecko.

Oh, and the what the fuck about Charlotte ? She's been on the island before ? Huh ? Who is she ?
And how cool is Miles, by the way ? He's only been on the show for a short time, but I really like him.
And what happened to Farraday and the people on the little boat ? Did they move with the island ? Are they just adrift ? There weren't any other known characters on the boat with Farraday( I called them all Star Trek red shirters- You remember on Star Trek, they would go down to a planet, and it would be Kirk, Spock, Bones and some guy in a red shirt, and you knew the guy in the red shirt was not getting back on the Enterprise), so if they were adrift, I guess Farraday could eat them to survive.

Okay, my brain hurts. I'm sure I'll write more later, but that's all for now.

Top Chef

I am a pretty big fan of Top Chef...And not just because of her...

Though the lovely Miss. Padma Lakshmi does not make it difficult to tune in every week, either.

I'm not exactly sure why I enjoy it so much. I don't have a particularly refined palate(I'm pretty much a cheeseburger guy, to be honest...and bacon-lots and lots of bacon in and on everything), so a lot of the food they make does not really appeal to me. But I guess I like the interactions, and the preparation of the food, I actually do find fascinating sometimes, even if it's food I would not touch with a ten foot pole.
On the current season, Antonia, Spike,Lisa, Richard and Stephanie are left. Honestly, once Lisa gets eliminated(hopefully next week), I really don't care who wins, though I am guessing that Richard will.
Why do I want Lisa eliminated ? She's negative, she's a whiner, she always looks like she just smelled some thing bad, and she has blames every negative thing that happens on someone else. I would guess I am in the minority in not wanting Spike eliminated. the people I know who watch the show do not like him.He's kind of a schemer, but there's something about him I like. That said, i don't think he will win.
I think it will come down to Antonia and Richard. Antonia has been coming on strong, and Richard has probably been the most consistently good contestant all season.

Have I told you all how much I LOOOOOVE this show ?

I think it maybe the funniest show on television.

I love David Caruso removing and replacing his sunglasses. The dramatic pauses. the one liners. the Roger Daltrey scream from the show's theme song("Won't Get Fooled Again" by the Who), which they seemed to be drifting away from the last few shows, and I hope they correct that next year. Back to the basics: Crime scene, Horatio arrives, removes his sunglasses, surveys the scene, asks a question or two, has dramatic line(my favorite was in the episode when a couple was getting divorced, and they divided their house with green lasers, and Horatio says "Welcome to divorce...of the future.") and replaces his sunglasses as we cut to the opening credits and the scream from "Won't Get Fooled Again".

I love how they dress. I eagerly await the "evidence in front of the cleavage" shot in each show. Though the lovely Khandi Alexander will certainly be missed when it comes to the cleavage shots...Perhaps they will have to bring in a new female officer to up the ante. I swear, I am fully expecting one of these days for them to have one of the female CSI's kneel down at a crime scene and flash a thong. It will happen, mark my words people...And I will stand and applaud.

Speaking of missing Khandi Alexander, more than her ample bosom, I think I will miss the creepy way that she addressed the corpses as "baby"...It just gave me the willies.
And how about that season finale cliffhanger ? WHO shot Horatio Caine ? Will he die ? But more importantly, will they bring back the fiery,buxom cop that was married to Horatio's brother, but that Horatio was always in love with to be by his bedside ?

THAT'S what we really want to know !!!

ATTENTION: POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERTS !!! I AM GOING TO POTENTIALLY TALK ABOUT ALL THE EPISODES OF LOST, UP TO AND INCLUDING LAST NIGHT'S. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !

Okay, I am an unabashed and unashamed devotee of LOST.

I love this show.Love it.Love it. Love it. Love it. I even loved the much maligned second season. I guess I always had faith that the creators had already written an ending, so that it was not actually off the rails. Perhaps it was, but I was still enjoying it. I'll admit that I did not love the Nikki/Paolo episode, but I was not as horrified by it as some others were.

I will also freely admit that there are many fans of LOST who are much more devoted/obsessed than I am(Twin two year olds will tend to split your focus a bit), and I am, quite simply, also not smart enough to catch all of the references(particularly the literary ones), but I do scan some of the websites and blogs that are dedicated to the show, and I do visit Nikki over at Nik At Nite
every Friday morning to see what her take on the show was, and maybe throw in an opinion/theory or two if I feel particularly bold.

Onto last night's episode "There's No Place Like Home, Part 1", which was the first hour of the three hour season finale(hence the Part 1-duh), and was kinda light on action, as I think it was mostly setting up the two hour conclusion of the season finale which is in two weeks(jerky Grey's Anatomy!).

It did include the Oceanic Six finally being returned to civilisation. Which was exciting, but kind of anti-climactic, since we all knew they were going to get there anyway.

What I AM curious about, is who came up with the lie they are telling ? Was it them ? was it Oceanic Airlines ? What of the rescue is true ? Did they leave the island on the small rescue boat from the freighter ?

And my mind is still buzzing with what exactly "moving the island" means/entails.

And who/what is trying to drive Hurley crazy ? is it Abbadon ? the Island ?

I am bummed that it seems that Jin is really going to die. I was hoping that maybe he was just left on the island, and they had to say he was dead. But Sun's anger last night seemed fairly genuine, and I pity whoever the OTHER person she thinks is responsible for his death is, they are in for some pain, I think, as is her Dad.

What is Ben's plan ? I have this feeling that Ben has been manipulating Locke the WHOLE TIME. I almost think that he DID know that Locke wouldn't die when he shot him and left him in the ditch. Ben seems to actually be in control of just about EVERYTHING(minus the killing of Alex-I think he was legitimately surprised and saddened by that.) Is it bad that I am starting to sort of like/appreciate Ben ? I'm guessing it is.

Who rigged the C4 in the boat ? Was it Keamy, to make sure they couldn't leave without him ?

I'm gonna be kinda pissed if the kill Desmond.

I think that's all I got for now. Anything you want to add ?

UPDATE:
I totally forgot about Farraday knowing about the Orchid Station ! How did he know that ? Does Keamy intend to use the Orchid to "torch the island", much the same way that Ben/Locke intend to use it to move the island ? Farraday definitely knew that nothing good comes from the Orchid.

I also forgot to mention that I receive these updates from Entertainment Weekly magazine from their resident LOST guy Jeff Jensen. he's usually got some interesting(and sometimes some waaaay out) stuff.

Jimmy Fallon: New Host of Late Night...

Interesting choice. Funny enough guy, I guess.

I will be curious to see what kind of leash he is given. Unlike Conan, he is taking over a show that has a bona fide competitor in the Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson. Ferguson actually beat Conan in the ratings a month ago, i think. Conan may have been a rerun, but still. When Conan took over for Dave, there was nothing else on at 12;30, so he had some time to find his way. I wonder how much time Jimmy Fallon will be given.

I also wonder if it's telling that they are replacing Conan with a somewhat established name. The first month after Conan was named as the new host of Late Night was spent with NBC telling people who the hell Conan O'Brien was.

I like Conan' show, I watch it now(well, truth be told, I TiVo it, and then I fast forward through some of it-he's a HORRENDOUS interviewer), but I will definitely watch Letterman instead of Conan. I still think Dave is king. I cannot fathom why people watch Leno. Leno used to be funny, when he was still a comic, but he became host of the Tonight Show, and he lost any edge he used to have.

I have also heard rumblings that Jay may not be finished. that he is being politely pushed out the door at NBC. THAT could be very interesting, indeed.

But anyway, I'm not sure what I'll do with the 12:30(0r 12:35 or 12:37)a.m. TiVO slot. I've never really watched Ferguson, so perhaps I'll give him a look see the next time Conan's on vacation. I just don't know that I like Jimmy Fallon enough to watch him every night. IT'S ALL SO CONFUSING!!!!

Okay, it's really not, but I'm bored, you know ?

And how will old Conesy fair at 11:35 ? Like I said, I'm not going to watch, most likely. I might watch for a little while, to see if he changes drastically for the earlier hour. but I wonder, will he keep the people that seemed to pick Jay over Dave ? Or will Dave seem more accessible to those folks ? did they like Jay and hate Dave ? Are they just loyal to the "Tonight Show" brand ? Will the odd hairdo of Conan O'Brien test that loyalty ?

Okay, so I don't know if last night's episode was the season finale or not(I'm guessing by the several attempted *GASP* moments in the closing scenes that it was. And it looks like they finally got rid of Adam Beach, who was just horrendous on the program. His acting was like someone doing a bad impression of Clint Eastwood doing a bad impression of Charles Bronson.
And I'm sorry, but this show is getting funnier and funnier. It's so damned earnest and overwrought, I cannot help but laugh at it, and I know I shouldn't...I know the subject matter is horrific, but it's just so damned ridiculous !
I am also apparently in a minority. Here's a clip of Adam Beach from an episode about a serial killer, which a lot of fans of the show said was one of the best episodes ever.

I love Tee Vee !! I fucking LOVE it !!!! And I am not going to be ashamed of that ANYMORE !!!
So, I will now write about the things I love on Tee Vee(including, but not limited to: Simpsons, Lost, Top Chef, The CSI's, The Laws & Orderses, The Late Show With David Letterman, etc.) and the things I Do NOT LOVE on Tee Vee(including, but not limited to: The Office(U.S. version) , Family Guy,Grey's Anatomy, etc.)
